Ann Arbor City Council To Vote On New Police Chief

Detroit Police Department

A high-ranking officer in the Detroit Police Department is being recommended for the top law enforcement office in Ann Arbor.

Outgoing Ann Arbor City Administrator Steve Powers will recommend James White for police chief at Monday night's city council meeting.

White is currently an assistant chief in the Detroit Police Department. He’s among three total candidates for the job. Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor says each candidate was exceptional and he looks forward to working with White.

Taylor says,

“I think people are excited about the prospect of working with James White. We have an exceptional police department and I look forward to working with him to make it even better.”

Mayor Taylor and city council members will vote on White’s appointment Monday.
