Ann Arbor Non-Profit gets $25,000 from Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan

  A local non-profit that helps young women in middle and high school become first-generation college students has received a $25,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan.

Girls Group provides assistance such as help with homework, ACT preparation and filling out college applications. 

Executive Director Sue Schooner says a pilot program in Pioneer High School has Girls Group visiting every week to offer help.

Girls Group is based in Ann Arbor, and since it's creation in 2003, all of it's high school seniors - 51 of them - have graduated from high school and gone on to college.
