Ann Arbor's Omari Rush Named Chair Of Statewide Arts Council

The executive director of CultureSourceand co-host of the monthly visual arts feature "Art and Soul" on 89.1 WEMU, Omari Rush has been appointed by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder to chair the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.

Formerly with the Ann Arbor Art Center, and now executive director of CultureSource, Omari Rush has been appointed by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder to chair the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.

Rush, who co-hosts the monthly visual arts feature "Art and Soul" here on 89.1 WEMU, says the arts provide an important economic boost to Michigan.

Rush says "the arts and culture institutions and organizations in Michigan are businesses that employ lots and lots of people and have a really important impact on economies all over the state."

The Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs awarded nearly $10 million in grants programs throughout the state during its last fiscal year.
