This week, "Art and Soul" is about the art of well being.  89.1 WEMU’s Lisa Barry is joined by local author, speaker, and Eastern Michigan University professor Sarah Brabbs to talk about how good communication can help us live better, more well-balanced lives.

Sarah Brabbs, M.A., is a professional speaker and author located in the Ann Arbor area, and teaches communications at Eastern Michigan University.  She trains, consults, coaches, and ultimately does her best to help people when and how she can especially when it comes to good communication.  She says we can really take our lives to the next level when we improve our communication skills.  That includes not taking things personally and really being in the moment and listening during a conversation.  That also includes being open and honest in the spirit of growth and love.

Brabbs talks about "changing defensive communication" and offers a skill set to not being a defensive communicator.  She says "the better we understand each other, we can build meaning together and have better relationships."
