89.1 WEMU

Statewide life and culture reporter for MLive and dining reporter Jessica Webster shares information on several spots for local discount Happy Hour drinks and food specialsincluding Maiz in Ypsilanti.

Jessica also talks about "Autbar,"which she says has a great outdoor courtyard and $5 craft cocktails during their happy hour.

"The Last Word" is one of Ann Arbor’s hidden treasures, according to Webster, with several bartenders who have been recognized nationally.  It's on Huron Street west of First Avenue.  She says they have great cocktails and great food there with 25% off your bill during happy hour.

The Earle in the Basement on Washington Street has been an Ann Arbor dining fixture for a long time. Webster says it also has a great happy hour, including a $3.75 bowl of mussels from 5-6:30pm.

We also discussed several restaurants in Ann Arbor that have opened and closed recently.

There was a big turnover in restaurants last year, not as much this year.  Some are dependent on students and lose business and are forced to close when many of the students move out over the summer.
