With the possibility of snow hitting our area this coming weekend, the city of Ann Arbor is reminding residents about local snow removal rules.
The Ann Arbor city ordinance for residential snow removal says any accumulation of snow greater than one inch must be cleared from adjacent sidewalks, concrete bus stops, and crosswalk ramps within 24 hours of the snowfall.
Any ice accumulation must be treated within 18 hours of forming with sand, salt, or other substance. Residents can get a free sand-salt mixture at various locations throughout the city.
Moving snow and or ice from private property onto a public street or sidewalk in Ann Arbor is against the law.
Residents and property owners will only receive one warning per season before incurring fines.
