Detroit Mayor Speaks At NAACP Chapter's Dinner

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan told the thousands of people who attended the local NAACP chapter's annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner that the struggle for equality goes on, despite the progress that has been made.  
Duggan told those who attended Sunday night's event at the Cobo Center in downtown Detroit that there's a building sense of unity between his office and the City Council and that both want to see the city's state-appointed emergency manager leave in October, as scheduled.
The dinner is the Detroit branch's largest fundraiser, drawing about 10,000 people each year. Harvard University law professor Charles Ogletree Junior was this year's keynote speaker.
Many reflected on the state of civil rights in the U.S. and the recent events involving embattled Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling.
