The Board of Regents at Eastern Michigan University approved a three-year agreement with the full-time lecturers union.  The new contract includes salary increases of 1.7% during the current school year and a 2% percent increase for 2019/2020.

Daric Thorne is president of the Federation of Teachers Union at Eastern.

"Our biggest conern was, giving the economic environment at Eastern Michigan University, we were concerned about cuts.  That is the reality of what we were worried about.  But we didn't see any cuts," said Thorne.

During the third year, the lecturers will get a 2.2% salary increase.  The new agreement will impact about 90 full-time lecturers.
