EMU Regents Approve Budget, Set Tuition & Fee Rates

Full time undergraduate students at Eastern Michigan University will spend about $340 more in tuition and fees next school year.

The board of regents today approved a 3.75 percent increase in tuition and fees.

The regents also approved a $296.4 million general fund budget.  The budget includes 39.2 million dollars in financial aid, an increase of nearly four million dollars from last year.

The regents also approved a $9.2 million capital budget and the auxiliary budget of over $40 million.  The bulk of the auxiliary budget is in housing and dining, which is expected to be at capacity in the fall.

The budget also includes an 11 percent or $3.8 million increase in financial aid.  EMU funded financial aid has grown by over 80 percent in the last six years to a total of $39.2 million.
