First Fall 'Chautauqua At The Riverside' Is Saturday

chautauqua-ypsilanti.org

The annual Chautauqua at the Riverside event has always been part of the Ypsilanti Heritage Festival - until now.  This year's event happens Saturday at the Riverside Arts Center in Ypsilanti.

Program Coordinator Val Kabat says they're packing a lot of good stuff into one day.  In fact, she sort of wishes they'd planned for two days.

"Because there were so many good programs to choose from," Kabat says.  "But it will give us a lot to work from next year."

Kabat says the move from the summer to the fall has been well-received, with every event sponsored by area businesses.

She says holding Chautauqua at the Riverside in the fall also makes it possible to lean a little more on the area's colleges and universities for assistance.

Among the presentations planned for Saturday: "Mothers and Warriors: Native American Women in Michigan History," "A Conversation with Henry Ford and Thomas Edison," "Wait, Wait, Don't Confuse Me," and a performance by Paul Klinger's Easy Street Jazz Band.
