Governor Rick Snyder Signs Education Budget In Ypsilanti

Governor Rick Snyder signs the 2019 education budget.

Governor Rick Snydersigned the 2019 K-12 education budget Thursday afternoon at Ypsilanti Community High School. It's a $16.9 billion package that includes a per pupil allowance increase that ranges between $120 and $240.  The governor said funds were also allocated to improve school safety.

"As roughly in the range of $55-$60 million.  There is $25 million in grants that would involve school safety equipment.  Doing better security measures in a school," said Snyder.

The governor visited Ypsilanti Community High School to meet with the school's robotics team after they werefeatured on the HBO show Real Sports.
