Governor Rick Snyder says the federal government has extended an order that allows truckers transporting fuel in Michigan to spend more time on the road.

Snyder had issued the energy emergency on May 24 and extended it on June 3 in response to pipeline interruptions in Wisconsin and Detroit.  He suspended state and federal rules related to limits on hours and days that a trucker can be on the road.

Snyder said Monday that the federal government granted a request to extend the energy emergency until July 13.  He says the extension ensures that gas stations "are able to continue to meet the needs of Michiganders."  Snyder says a fuel pipeline in Wisconsin still is down.
