Harlem Globetrotters Take The Court At Eastern Michigan University

Harlem GLobetrotters EMU

The Harlem Globetrotters will performtonight at Eastern Michigan University's Convocation Center.  That's less than a month since long time player Meadowlark Lemon passed away.

After 90 years, the team continues to motivate young people to be active and get involved in athletics.  Player Zeus McClurkin says that while they influence fans of all races the Globetrotters have played an important role in the African-American community.

"That there seems to be the crowd that does get inspired because they can see somebody and recognize somebody on the team who looks like them. But we're not just an African-American team."

The first African-American player signed to the NBA was a Globetrotter.
