Three-day effort to draw together experts in design, public health, and engineering, among other fields.
Experts in a variety of fields at the University of Michigan will be working together this weekend to respond to the Ebola crisis in West Africa.
The campus-wide design charette will focus on personal protection equipment, breaking down barriers that limit health communication, and designs for better transportation of infected bodies. Stamps School of Art and Design Associate Professor, Jan-Hendrik Andersen says bringing together experts from design, public health, engineering, and other school could lead to a real breakthrough. Andersen also attested that the effort is "also vertical, in the sense that [. . .] faculty and staff, professionals from the outside, and graduate and undergraduate students are working together."
Andersen hopes the three-day effort will illustrate to students the importance of interdisciplinary work.
