This comes after the Chronical of Higher Education released emails between Engler and his aide. In those emails, Engler says one of the first survivors of Larry Nassar to come forward is probably receiving a “kickback” for getting more survivors involved in lawsuits. Nassar is the former MSU sports doctor who sexually assaulted his patients for years. Hundreds of women are suing the school.
Mosallam says Engler lacks the compassion to move the school forward through the crisis created by the Nassar revelation.
“We’re at a crossroads, this university. The foundation of this university is at stake. Everything that we do going forward has to be institutional reform.”
In a statement, Engler says he’s committed to moving forward and strengthening the school’s sexual misconduct prevention efforts.
