There's been an unexpected announcement from an Ann Arbor city council member. Long time Ann Arbor councilwoman SabraBriereannounced today she is stepping down from her seat in early December.
She said it was a “bittersweet decision” but is moving on--literally.
Her son lives in Santa Rosa, California, and she and her husband and 3 cats are moving there to be with family, adding the decision was not based on health or dissatisfaction with Ann Arbor.
Right now Briere's resignation from the Ann Arbor City Council is effective December 5th.
