An 'Unconference' Planned In Ypsilanti This Weekend To Talk About The Future Of The City

Mark Maynard

Citizens and business owners concerned about the future of Ypsilanti are getting together this coming weekend for an Unconferenceto share ideas about the future of the community.

The Unconference is the idea of local businessman and blogger Mark Maynard who says it’s a get-together with no set agenda and no guaranteed outcome.

89.1 WEMU'S Lisa Barry spoke to Maynard about the upcoming event.

It’s just an opportunity for people to get together in groups and talk about what’s happening in Ypsilanti.

“Hopefully, when you get them all in a room together, working in the same direction--wait and see,” says Maynard.

The Ypsi Now Unconference is open to anyone who is interested and is intended to be a collaborative effort and will include discussions about whatever the people who show up want to talk about.

It’s taking place this coming Saturday, January 6th at the Riverside Arts Center beginning at 4 o’clock.
