Unity In The Community Rally At EMU

To promote diversity on campus, the Early College Alliance at Eastern Michigan University hosted a Unity in the Community rally Friday afternoon.  It's now an annual event after racist graffiti was found on campus three years ago.

Ellen Fischeris the principal of the ECA, a high school program that allows students to earn college credit at Eastern.  She explains what they hope to accomplish with the rally.

"What it means to be productive members of a diverse campus community.  So that it's not just to say, yeah, I'm not going to spray racist messages on buildings, but actually, I'm going to become educated about what it means to be a part of this diverse community," said Fischer.

ECA students come from over forty different schools in the area.
