Jeanice Swift is on the job. Swift is the newly hired Superintendent of Ann Arbor Public Schools. As WEMU's Andrew Cluley reports, the districts teachers and staff began the new academic year on Tuesday with an opening day ceremony.
Jeanice Swift says she hopes to still be with the district in 2026. That's when students that start kindergarten next week will graduate from high school. Tuesday marked Swift's first official day on the job. Swift was hired to replace retired Superintendent Pat Green, and comes to Ann Arbor from Colorado Springs, where she served as Assistant Superintendent for Instruction. Yesterday marked opening day ceremonies for district teachers and staff. Swift says plans are also being drafted for her to meet with the entire Ann Arbor schools community. Swift says the more time she spends in Ann Arbor, the more she thinks the community and district are a great match for what she has been looking for.
