Mission Statement of the Sunday Best

To provide listeners with old-fashioned Jazz and Blues at a time when they are most vulnerable, using real music with substance and depth as a tool for friendly therapy.
To choose the very best or most interesting; the rarest and truest.
To concentrate on small-ensemble swing, ragtime and stride piano, and any early 20th Century Afro-American musical manifestation, so as to remind Americans of their own cultural heritage.
To promote intelligent inquiry and stimulate healthy curiosity in the “Ear of the Behearer” (to use a phrase borrowed from Dewey Redman)
To celebrate the first half of the 20th Century, paying close attention to the 1920s and before, as music from this period seldom makes it onto the airwaves.
To acknowledge and promote contemporary extensions of the traditions described above.
