Republican Bill Schuette and Democrat Gretchen Whitmer will battle it out for the governor’s seat in November.  Libertarians also had a choice for governor on the primary ticket for the first time in Michigan’s history.

Bill Gelineau has won the Lerbertarian gubernatorial primary race.  Gelieau defeated John J. Tatar to move on to the November general election.

There, he’ll face an uphill climb in a race with Democrat Gretchen Whitmer and Republican Bill Schuette. Whitmer and Schuette each won their party’s primary on Tuesday night.

Michiganders will head to the voting booths today.  This is when Democrats, Republicans, and Libertarians will choose who they want to see represent their party in various races come November.  There could be a higher turnout this year than in the 2014 primary.

For the first time in Michigan history, Libertarian candidates for governor will be on the August primary ballot.  That’s because the party got enough Michigan votes in the 2016 election to put the party on the primary ballot.
