Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has released a list of potential US Supreme Court nominees with two names from Michigan.
Michigan Supreme Court Justice Joan Larsen is a former University of Michigan law professor. She was named to the state Supreme Court in September by Governor Rick Snyder. Larsen clerked for the late Justice Antonin Scalia. His death created the vacancy on the court. She will appear on the November ballot to seek a full term on the state’s high court.
The other name on Trumps’s list is Raymond Kethledge. He is a judge on the US Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He was named to the court in 2008 by President George W. Bush. He was a lawyer for Ford Motor Company after serving as a legal advisor to then-Senator Spencer Abraham of Michigan. Kethledge was a clerk for Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.
