The City of Ypsilanti continues to move forward with plans to construct an Amtrak stop platform.
Council member Pete Murdock from the third ward says initial designs of the Depot Town platform have been presented to council, but nothing has been decided. The stop would be part of the Wolverine Line that travels between Chicago and Pontiac.
"Given our financial situation itself, we're looking at doing something for the Wolverine stop. It is sort of a minimalist plan--enough to get the train to stop."
As of now, the project is expected to cost about $2 million, and the city is hoping to get grants to help fund it. The platform could be ready by the end of next year.
