The city of Ann Arbor is getting closer to hiring a new city administrator to replace Steve Powers who accepted another job with a municipality in Oregon.

City Council will get a group of applications during tonight's regularly scheduled meeting.  From that pool, at least three candidates if not more will be picked to move forward.

Council member Chip Smith from the 5thward says this is a priority for the city, but they will not rush through the process.

"The finalists will be brought in. They will meet the community in an open house setting altogether. They will interview with department heads, staff, and interview before council."

A decision could be made by May.
