Ann Arbor Meals On Wheels Limiting Delivery

Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels

Ann Arbor's Meals on Wheels has made changes to its delivery service because of the coronavirus pandemic.  WEMU's Jorge Avellan has the story.

Meals will be delivered three times a week instead of six.  Director Courtney Vanderlaan says the 300 clients they serve will still receive the same number of meals they usually get in addition to new items.

"We are sending out our shelf-stable meal boxed to all of our clients. Those contain six meals worth of shelf-stable meals that don't need to be refrigerated or frozen, they can just sit on the counter"

The group is consolidating deliveries to reduce contact among staff, volunteers, and clients.  However, they do plan to check in on clients via phone on days they don't deliver.
