Ann Arbor Public Schools Kick Off Alternative Graduation Celebrations

AAPS

Because high school graduation ceremonies had to be canceled due to COVID-19, Ann Arbor Public Schools will kick-off their alternative celebrations Friday for the Class of 2020.

Community High School will host a “stay-in-the-car” procession at 4 pm on school grounds where students will be able to greet their teachers and administrators from their cars, as the educators stand along the procession line.  At 7 pm, a virtual commencement will be streamed on the district’s website for Community High School.  Andrew Cluley is a spokesperson for the district and says all high schools will follow this same format and schedule next week, but on different days.

Andrew Cluley: We’ll have an image or two of the student up on the screen and again, each school is going to be a little bit different, but that’s the basic concept. That their names will be read to get their recognition.

The virtual commencement ceremonies will also be broadcast on CTN Channel 18.  For specific school schedules, visit the district’s website.
