Art & Soul - The Performing Arts: A Preview Of This Year's Ann Arbor Summer Festival

Ann Arbor Summer Festival

The 35th season of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival kicks off June 5th, and the festival's executive director Mike Michelon joined 89.1 WEMU's Lisa Barry for this week's Art and Soul to talk about the many different events on the schedule for this year.

There are several different activities included as part of the annual Ann Arbor Summer Festival.  There are main stage shows, outdoor concerts, and movies by moonlight, among many other events.  The majority of the activities are free, including the Top of the Park in downtown Ann Arbor where there are numerous concerts, kids’ activities, and two very special "Spectacle" events.

Most of the Main Stage performances, which are typically ticketed events, take place at the Power Center in Ann Arbor.

On Thursday, June 29th, up-and-coming jazz singer Jazzmeia Horn performs at the Power Center, and The Capitol Steps will perform on the 4th of July as they have for the past 19 years.
