City of Ypsilanti

1st Ward: Incumbent Nicole Brown defeated challenger Ka’Ron Gaines with nearly 64- percent support.  Brown is unopposed in November.

2nd Ward: Jennifer Symanns was unopposed in Tuesday’s primary and will remain unopposed in November.

3rd Ward: Anthony Morgan defeated Adam Gainsley with nearly 65-percent of the vote.  Morgan will face Desirae Simmons, a non-partisan candidate, in the November general election.

Mayoral Race: 2nd Ward city councilmember Beth Bashert was unopposed in the Tuesday Democratic primary and therefore, by ordinance, did not appear on the ballot. She will face three non-partisan challengers in the November general election, Anne Brown (write in only), Adrienne Hirschfelder, and Jack Szkutnik. Current Ypsilanti Mayor, Amanda Edmonds, chose not to run for re-election.

**Editor's Note**: (08/08/2018 12:15pm by PC) This article has been edited to correct mistakes in both the Mayoral and 3rd Ward coverage.  The Mayoral Race includes Adrienne Hirschfelder, a non-partisan candidate.  The 3rd Ward race includes Desirae Simmons, a non-partisan candidate.
