Congresswoman Debbie Dingell Helps Launch New Cancer Prevention Caucus

US House of Representatives
Congresswoman Debbie Dingell

A local congresswoman is helping Congress launch an effort to help citizens prevent cancer.

It's called the 'Bipartisan Congressional Cancer Prevention Caucus.' Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, who helped form the one-of-a-kind caucus tells 89.1 WEMU it's their goal to inform people on how cancer can be prevented.

"We'll be putting out material on a regular basis to educate people about things they can do to help prevent cancer," Dingell says.

She adds they also plan to work with the medical community, advocacy groups and academia with lifestyle and environmental information on how to prevent the disease.

Lisa Barry was a reporter, and host of All Things Considered on 89.1 WEMU.
