Crime At Ann Arbor's Liberty Plaza Worries Local Business Owners

Creative Commons

Business owners in Ann Arbor are becoming more concerned about crime near Liberty Plaza after two people were stabbed in the park earlier this month.

Harriet Seaver owns TiosMexican Cafe, a spot  for lunch and late night eats located near the park on Liberty Street. Seaver says, "There was a stabbing down there 10 days ago and that's frightening. I obviously have concerns for everyone, but most importantly my employees."

Seaver says Liberty Plaza has been a problem for a long time. Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor has requested more action be taken by the city to lower crime at the park.

Ann Arbor is also planning to build another public green space near Liberty Plaza. Officials plan to discuss area crime during a series of public meetings taking place next month.
