DTE Energy to Begin Weekend Meter Readings Saturday

en.wikipedia

The long and harsh winter has yet another early spring implication. DTE Energy will have to conduct weekend meter readings, in addition to the regularly scheduled weekday visits to your residence.

DTE has hired the company Olameter to conduct the weekend readings. Beginning tomorrow, the readers will be deployed to all portions of the utility's service region. they will be out reading meters every Saturday and Sunday through April 12th. DTE employees will continue to conduct the weekday readings.

In a media release, DTE notes, "Weekend readings are necessary because the unrelenting snow and ice this season has made it difficult to access meters, resulting in more estimated bills."

The release also offers some tips for customers, including: Real meter readers will be wearing badges from Olameter.  Remember DTE technicians need to have access to meters in the event of an emergency and to safely read meters for customers.

To ensure continued efficient and reliable service, customers should:

•    Keep an access path to meters open and clear of remaining snow.

•    By hand, remove ice and snow from meters.

•    Keep your dogs restrained or located away from the meter.
