Eastern Michigan University is providing additional grant funding to graduate students looking to take online courses this summer.
The school is offering graduate and undergraduate students $500 for taking a 3-credit class and $1,000 to students who take six or more credits-worth of classes.
EMU spokesman Geoff Larcom says the grant will apply to current and transfer students.
“There’s no enrollment process. All you do is register for the class, and then, the grant is automatically extended to you by virtue of you enrolling in that class,” Larcom says.
Larcom says the grant is meant to help offset some of the costs and other hurdles students face as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the additional fees normally applied to online courses.
