EMU Faces Lawsuit Regarding Sexual Assault Accusations

Eastern Michigan University

Eleven women have filed a lawsuit against Eastern Michigan University accusing it of ignoring reports of sexual assault on and around its campus.

According to the 166-page lawsuit, the incidents in question took place between 2015 and 2020.

Several are said to have involved two fraternities at the school.

EMU officials have declined our request for an interview and have issued a statement denying the lawsuit’s allegations that the university covered up any crimes.

EMU President James Smith has also released an open letter to the community that says, “There is no place for sexual violence in our campus community, and we will always take swift action to stop it.”

President Smith’s entire statement can be viewed here.
