EMU To Hold Teach-In Event To Promote Diversity And Inclusion

Nov 14, 2016

There will be a day-long event today on the Eastern Michigan University campus to bring the community together in light of several recent racist graffiti incidents on the campus.

Students, faculty and staff at Eastern are invited to attend "Know Justice.  Know Peace."  It's designed to be a day-long teach-in on racism, diversity, and inclusion to ensure that Eastern is a "genuinely inclusive and democratic institution in which all individuals  and groups feel secure, respected and valued."

The day begins with a conversation with campus leaders on racism and Eastern's response.

Victor Lewis is the keynote speaker.  He's a nationally recognized social justice educator, trainer and activist who will give a talk called "The Color of Fear."

The day-long event is free and open to the entire campus community.
