Former Eastern Michigan University President Susan Martin has found a new job. San Jose State University has named her its Interim President, effective August 18.

The announcement comes less than a month after her departure from EMU, cutting her vacation short.

In a statement issued by the university, EMU's Vice President of Communications Walter Kraft congratulated Martin saying "She had an outstanding impact at Eastern in her seven years of leadership and we wish her well as she moves on to the next phase of her career."

Chancellor Timothy P. White remarked on Martin's experience and tenure at EMU in a press release from San Jose State University regarding the announcement:

“Susan’s background and leadership style is a perfect fit for San Jose State,” explained Chancellor White. “Her expertise complements the campus, and she brings more than two decades of experience in leading strategic planning, overseeing and advancing capital projects, implementing campus safety initiatives and encouraging regional collaborations to improve college readiness and admission rates.”
