Bill Clinton stumps for Michigan Democratic ticket in Flint
Another Clinton was in Michigan on Wednesday urging Democrats to show up to the polls on November 4th. Last week it was former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. This time it was her husband rallying Democrats to try to get out the vote.
"We don't win these races and we get this gridlock because too many people don't vote at midterm," said former President Bill Clinton in front of a crowd of hundreds of Democrats.
"We've got a chance to begin again, and the choices are - are we going to go back to trickle-down economics? Or are we going to help working families and have middle-out economics grow the middle class, raise incomes, and give poor people the chance to work their way into it?" Clinton asked attendees as they cheered.
The former president went on to urge politicians and voters to reject hyper-partisanship.
"Americans, it's amazing, we've gotten over all these bigotries we have," Clinton said. "We're not near as racist or sexist or homophobic as we used to be. We have one remaining bigotry. We just don't want to be around anybody that disagrees with us."
He also decried large amounts of out-of-state spending on political campaigns and urged passage of a higher national minimum wage.
Republicans have brought in a number of possible 2016 presidential contenders such as Chris Christie, Jeb Bush, and Mitt Romney to rally their base in the run-up to the election.
President Barack Obama will make a campaign stop for Democrats in the final week before the election.
