Head Start Services To Be Offered In Ypsilanti

The Ypsilanti Community Schools Board of Education last night approved a contract with the Washtenaw Intermediate School District to provide Head Start services in the district.

Superintendent Scott Menzel says Head Start will be offered at three locations.

Locations:

  • Ford Early Learning Center
  • Perry Early Learning Center
  • Beatty Early Learning Center, which is the former Head Start building operated by the county.

Federal funding will cover the $1.3 milllion cost of the program.
The school board also approved an agreement with Detroit Regional "Dollars for Scholars", an organization that provides scholarships to encourage students to pursue a post-secondary education.  Menzel adds that "Dollars for Scholars" makes scholarships available to encourage students to pursue a post-secondary education. Dollars for Scholars has been serving the area for a while, having started in the Willow Run district in the late 1990's.
