The Sierra Club-Huron Valley Group recently underwent a change in leadership.  Dan Ezekiel now serves as Group Chair.  In this week’s "Issues of the Environment," Dan tells WEMU’s David Fair about efforts to create more active participation in meetings, outdoor activities, and dramatically increase the number of advocates heading into the 2020 elections.

Upcoming Meetups:

  • The last night of Top of the Park, at Ingalls Mall on the U of Michigan campus, between 5-8, at the Toyota outreach tent, presenting activities related to zero waste and recycling.
  • The Ann Arbor Art Fair every day in the non-profit booth area on E. Liberty.
  • The third Thursday of each month at 7:30, usually at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens.  Next meeting is Tuesday, July 16.  Presenter will be John George of the Motor City Blight Busters.

John George is the founder of Detroit Blight Busters, a community-based, nonprofit housing corp. “We work with neighbors and The City of Detroit as well as our funders to make The City the best it can be.  We have over 9000 volunteers each year that work on clean up and rebuilding projects with us.”  An exciting service project opportunity for HVG members may be announced.
