Issues Of The Environment: US-23 Widening Project

The US-23 corridor between M-14 and Brighton is known as a rush-hour problem. The Michigan Department of Transportation is hoping to alleviate some of that congestion through use of 'Dynamic Shoulders'. One local group supports some of MDOT's proposal, but would like to see something other than these 'dynamic shoulders.'

The Washtenaw Bicycling & Walking Coalition added its voice to public comments the Michigan Department of Transportation solicited concerning its proposed plan to widen US-23 north of M-14. WBWC board member, Larry Deck spoke to WEMU's Patrick Campion about issues the coalition sees with MDOT's plan.
