WEMU (89.1 FM), the Eastern Michigan University public radio station, has dedicated its First Friday 5:01 Jazz Series at Ann Arbor's Raven's Clubto the memory of Jan Winkelman, a devoted jazz fan and listener, who died 8 March 2007. A fund has been established in his honor at WEMU to finance the series and other special performances.
The series takes place at 5:01 p.m. on the first Friday of each month between September and May. The shows are free and open to the public; donations to the Dr. Jan Winkelman Fund for Jazz Performance and Education are encouraged.
