Michigan Medicine plans to begin clinical trials to test a vaccine against COVID-19.
The study is part of a larger clinical trial that will involve 30,000 individuals across the U.S. during the next two years. Michigan Medicine will test the vaccine on about 500 to 800 local residents, over 2,000 have already registered to be considered. Dr. Daniel Kaul is a professor of infectious disease at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Daniel Kaul: We are very interested in getting people who are in increased risk of getting COVID, that could include for example, students who are living on a college campus, essential workers, so people working in transportation, like bus drivers.
The clinical trial, which is expected to start next week, is designed for adults in good health and condition.
