A five-mile loop of a new mountain biking trail opens in Chelsea with a ribbon cutting and naming ceremony today.

The loop is the first of five designed for mountain bikes in the Waterloo State Recreation Area.  Bob Pierce is with the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce.  He says business in the area are looking forward to an increase in visitors to Chelsea this summer.

"The mountain bike trail will also work with the Potawatomi Trail in bringing in mountain bikers from all around the region and from several [surrounding] states. We really see this as a major economic driver in the future for the Chelsea area."

Pierce says the park brings around 600,000 people to the Chelsea area each year.
