Saline officials think their staff did a good job responding to on overflow at the wastewater treatment plant. About 29-thousand gallons of partially treated sewage got into the Saline River yesterday.

City Manager Todd Campbell says the majority of the 146-thousand gallons released went back into the wastewater treatment plant.  He says the plant has been cleaned up.

According to Campbell an outside contractor working on the facility thought a valve was closed while installing new piping.  The overflow was contained within about an hour.

The overflow comes a day after the Port Huron Wastewater Treatment Plant reported an overflow into the St. Clair River due to rainfall.
The Times Herald of Port Huron reports that discharged 245,000 gallons of water, including 17,000 gallons was sanitary wastewater.
