Regional Transit Holds Public Meeting In Ann Arbor

WEMU

The future of regional mass transit was the topic at a meeting in downtown Ann Arbor Thursday night.

The meeting was organized by the Regional Transit Authority.  Spokesperson Travis Gonyou says the public’s feedback will influence where the RTA will recommended stops for bus rapid transit and commuter rail will be.

With the public’s feedback, the RTA will conduct environmental studies in the region this summer.

Gonyou says,

“I would say that people are really excited about the possibilities we have for transit in this area. As far as regional transit goes, we’ve had a lot of challenges in our region for a long time and this is a big step forward in providing some newer service that connects our four county region in a meaningful way that hasn’t been there in the past.”

He says the RTA will next conduct environmental studies of possible transit stops beginning this summer.
