Aug 5, 2020

There were three contested primary races among candidates for the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday. They were in the 3rd, 4th and 5th districts.

The 3rd District featured a Republican primary between Ken Siler and Jacob Ehrman. Siler won with nearly 55-percent of Tuesday's vote. He'll face incumbent Democrat, Shannon Beeman,  in the November election. Beeman was unopposed on Tuesday.

After November there will be a new face representing the 4th District on the Board.  Sitting commissioner, Felicia Brabec decided to run for 55th District State House Representative instead of seeking reelection. Tuesday's Democratic primary race saw Caroline Sanders and Daryl Campbell of Ypsilanti, Darcy Berwick of Saline and Ann Arbor's Paul Jacabcsin run off. Sanders won the race with nearly 54-percent of the vote. Republican Michelle Nicholai was unopposed Tuesday and will face Sanders in the November general election.

It was a crowded Democratic primary in the 5th District. Ruth Ann Jamnick decided against running for re-election. A field of five candidates were in the run-off. Justin Hodge won the race with just over 33-percent of the vote. Hodge will face Republican Timothy King in November.
