Safety Tips For Voting In Person Next Week

Wiki Commons

For those planning to vote in person next week for the November 3rd general election, there are safety steps health experts recommend.

Beverly Mihalko is an associate professor of health sciences at Eastern Michigan University.  She says individuals who plan to vote in person should avoid making contact with other voters and maintain six feet of social distancing, even while waiting in line.

Beverly Mihalko: If you think you might be waiting in line for a period of time, by all means, bring an additional mask, because if it becomes wet or soiled for some reason, maybe you are having allergies and sneezing, you would want to put on a clean mask.

Mihalko says latex gloves are not a must but recommends you take hand sanitizer to use after touching any surfaces at the polling locations.  She adds that it’s not a bad idea to also take your own pen to vote.
