Governor Rick Snyder is out of the country on a week-long trade mission to China.

China is one of the world’s fastest-growing markets and has a burgeoning manufacturing sector.  Snyder says both those facts represent an opportunity for a state like Michigan.

Ari Adler is the governor’s communications director.  He says that’s why the governor has visited every year he’s been in office.

“This is the sixth year in a row that he has gone, and it is paying off for the state and will continue to pay dividends for the state long after the governor is out of office.”

Adler says the governor is mostly talking to automotive and manufacturing companies.  But he is also taking some time to promote tourism to the growing number of international travelers in China and boosting Michigan’s agricultural products.

The Governor will return to Michigan on Saturday.
