Students Speak About Why They Support Bernie Sanders

Jorge Avellan

It's no secret that presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is popular among college voters.  WEMU's Jorge Avellan spoke with some of them today and has the story.

Bernie Sanders has repeatedly said that, if he becomes president, he will offer free tuition and help reduce college debt for students.

University of Michigan sophomore Ben Iuliano says Sanders connects with young voters.

"I think he's a true progressive candidate, which we haven't seen on the national scale in a long time in the United States," Iuliano says.

Just like some Hillary Clinton supporters interviewed, Ben plans to vote Democrat in the general election no matter who the candidate is.

Brendan Schroder, who is also a Bernie supporter, said he voted for the senator because he seems sincere compare to other candidates.
