Study: Ann Arbor Businesses Much More Female-Friendly

Ann Arbor is a good place for women in the workplace, according to a new report.

Ann Arbor was ranked 7th in the country for women in the workplace, according to a new study from the financial website nerdwallet.com.

The study looked at the wages of women working full time in all industries finding in Ann Arbor.  The workforce participation rate for women is 3.6% lower than men, compared to 10% for the national average.

Women have the most job opportunities in health care and education at hospital systems and universities.  The University of Michigan Health System employs about 18,000 people, and more 10,000 people work at the university. 

In Ann Arbor, women earn 86 cents for every dollar a man earns.
