Tap Water Vs. Bottled Water: Ann Arbor City Drinking Water Wins An Award

89.1 WEMU

Do you drink tap or bottled water?

The city of Ann Arbor just received an award as best tasting drinking water in Michigan by the American Water Works Association.

I spoke with Brian Steglitz, Ann Arbor's Water Treatment Services Manager, about what makes their water stand out.

Steglitz says this is actually the second time they've won an award for best drinking water, the other was in 1996.

Brian Steglitz is the Manager of Ann Arbor's Water Treatment Services.

He attributes part of their better tasting water to their filtration system and the use of ozone instead of chlorine for disinfecting purposes.

Steglitz adds that because tap water undergoes more regulation than bottled water, it often ends up being as good if not better than bottled water.
